Packet deadline is Wednesday. For the most part the writing is done — the creative chapters and the two essays and the bibliography, minus a couple books still to read. There’s still day’s worth of hard line editing tomorrow and that lingering reading but Wednesday is looking very, very good. Not the scary beast I once imagined it to be. Then again, this is the first one. No telling how bad the writing is, or what the rewrites are going to look like.
But done, essentially.
I know I have it easy. I know a year from now I’m going to be in the throes of a major critical theses and crying. But that’s a whole year away.
Suze asked me what I was going to do on Wednesday after I sent off my packet; goofing off on the Internet all afternoon? Hardly. No that I know what it looks like, and with a short deadline for the second packet (March 5th) I have new plan for tackling the second packet. First comes the next round of reading. Get some craft reading done. Start ruminating on ideas for the next critical essays. Since I won’t get my advisor’s notes back until the end of the week, and I won’t want to start in on the creative until I’ve let things sit a bit, so I need to get a big chunk of reading out of the way.
Or maybe I’ll goof around on the Internet. You know, doing “research.”
